Microsoft's Windows Strategy Destabilizes OS/2-PM, Benefits Unix Camp On Wall Street

In a series of recent briefings and computer trade press interviews, Microsoft Corp. announced plans to shift its software development focus from the OS/2 operating system to its Windows user interface software. While denying published reports that it was scrapping OS/2, Microsoft described an ambitious series of Windows improvements and extensions. Windows Version 3.0 was introduced last May and has sold 300,000 units, surpassing even Microsoft's expectations.
