UBS New York Eyes Bids For 500 Positions In Bank's, Securities Unit's Trading Rooms

Union Bank of Switzerland is reviewing responses to a request for proposal for a 500-position trading-room system in New York that would bring the bank's trading operations onto a common platform with those of its UBS Securities Inc. subsidiary. Surprisingly, Digital Equipment Corp.'s DECtrade platform isn't among the systems UBS is considering, despite its global commitment to the product, which was announced with much fanfare last year.

Officials at UBS decline to comment on the planned trading
