Firms to Slow 2002 IT Spending

SPECIAL REPORT

NEWTON, Mass.--Wholesale financial firms’ rate of IT spending growth will continue to decrease, according to a report issued by Meridien Research. In 2002, firms will spend 4 percent more than in 2001, for a total of $229.9 billion, compared with a 5.5 percent increase in 2001 over 2000’s levels, the report says.

However, Meridien expects IT spending to gradually rise in 2003 and 2004. Spending is expected to nudge up 5.7 percent to $243.1 billion in 2003 and up another 6.5 percent to $258.9
