RECOVERY AND CONTINUITY

TOKYO--The electronic Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) has begun a project to set up its first back-up facility by 2006, enabling the exchange to continue trading in the event of a disaster affecting its main site, or failures in its trading or clearing systems. Not only has the exchange not previously had any back-up sites, it is also unable to resort to floor trading, unlike the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing group, which still provides a back-up floor for electronic trading.
