VMU Market’s Future in Doubt

LONDON--The market for Virtual Matching Utility (VMU) services appears to be in serious trouble nearly six months after the SIA’s postponement of its T+1-by-2005 goal and weeks after the collapse of the GSTP effort to provide an industry-owned VMU.

The Zurich-based GSTP, set up by the Global Straight Through Processing Association (GSTPA) to develop and run a VMU, announced last month that it will go out of business by the end of the year (TTW, Nov. 25).
