NYSE's Blue Room Expansion Set For Side-By-Side Trades

THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES

In a surprise move, the New York Stock Exchange is equipping its expanded blue room to trade options on exchange-listed equities side by side with the underlying issues. The Big Board has consistently opposed side-by-side trading in the past.

The blue room expansion will house 2.5 specialist posts, 11 specialist firms, 55 specialist positions and 176 broker booths. The specialist units slated to occupy the new room have already been selected, according to Joel Beier, NYSE vice president
