Nasdaq Suffers as Others Improve in Q3

The third quarter continued to reward many companies, with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Archipelago Holdings and Interactive Data Corp. all reporting increased revenues. Nasdaq, however, didn't have such positive news and announced a number of layoffs.

Nasdaq successfully narrowed its Q3 net loss to $5.5 million versus a loss of $38 million in the third quarter of 2003. But total revenues declined 12.6 percent to $124 million in the quarter from $141.9 million a year ago. Market services
