The courtship period for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is now officially over and the early adopters have reached their conclusions about the technology that delivers audio over an IP network. The general consensus in the finance world seems to be that the technology is an important enabler for the future, but the perceived risks of deployment are still holding many firms back. Investment banks remain cautious--especially with regard to how it will perform in the front office.
