After tragedy struck on Sept. 11, Lehman Brothers had only a few days to reassemble new trading floors. Deutsche Bank had just hours to make new arrangements for trade settlements. In the short term, the World Trade Center attacks created a series of critical IT projects with time-to-market requirements that might have seemed impossible under normal circumstances.

It also changed the road ahead. In the coming year, firms will be reconstructing data centers, relocating headquarters
