Avoiding the Carr Wreck
You have to agree that much of the underlying technology on Wall Street is moving toward a commodity and utility model. There, banks that aren't already renting compute cycle times from Amazon.com, Hewlett-Packard or IBM are definitely in the minority.
As one source mentioned to me recently, "Everyone is doing it, but no one is willing to admit it." It reminds me of the average New York City resident's relationship with Wal-Mart: It's all about the price and convenience.
