When IM Takes the Call

Instant Messaging (IM) has been the bane of trading floor IT managers for some time, but, as this week's issue shows, IM is a permanent part of the landscape. Call it a de facto IT victory for the front lines—a case in which a grass roots push overcame the opposition of management. But it appears that IM chat may be on its way to something more interesting—a merger with voice communication.
