Reuters’ Tibco Contract Will ‘Almost’ Break Even

PALO ALTO, Calif.--Through its contract with Tibco Software, which affords it exclusive sales rights in the financial services market, Reuters’ sales contribution will "almost" break even this year, as it did in 2000, says Fred Meyer, chief marketing officer at Tibco.

In June, Reuters extended until December 2002 a contract committing the company to pay Tibco $20 million per year as a minimum guaranteed distribution fee for all the Tibco products it sells. Reuters must pay incremental fees to
