Salomon's proprietary digital data distribution system is based on Tibco's TIB, whereas Smith Barney traders rely both on Reuters' Triarch and ADP's FS Partner.
Both use IPC turrets and Unix workstations, but Smith Barney traders also have Windows-based PCs.
Business Overlap:
There are significant overlaps in the firms' bond and equity businesses, which could mean layoffs.
