The remaining staff of the beleaguered Axil Computer, of Concord, Massachusetts, are likely to get a new employer, thanks to last-minute negotiations between Axil and Beaverton, Oregon-based Sequent Computer Systems. An industry source says it appears that Sequent, an early 1980s pioneer in symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) with its Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) systems, is prepared to hire Axil's remaining staff of approximately 20 to 25 people, mainly system designers.
