Y2K? For Securities Industry Code Scrubbers, Maybe its Already Here

To borrow from a television commercial produced by a well-known computer manufacturer; it's the Year 2000. Are you ready?

The securities industry, on its face, is indeed ready, and might even be a model for the rest of the world. But it's also ready to the point where it apparently isn't buying Y2K-services for at least another three months, and there's the rub.

The situation surfaced when IBM reported a crash in third quarter
