Dow Jones Bids $18 A Share For Rest Of Telerate Inc.

The timing of Dow Jones & Co.'s $18-a-share bid last Thursday for the shares of Telerate Inc. it doesn't already own was "no great surprise to anybody," in the words of one Wall Street analyst.
Dow Jones owns some 63.3 million shares, or 66.2%, of Telerate. The publishing company has been slowly boosting its stake in the provider of financial market data for the past four years. At the same time, revenues from Dow Jones' own electronic news services have increased as a proportion of total sales
