Sun, Microsoft Play Beat The Clock On New Releases

Sun Microsystems said last week that it would ship the latest version of its operating system, Solaris 8, by February 28, eleven days after Microsoft is scheduled to roll out Windows 2000.

Despite the legal threats to Microsoft that have been made by the US Justice Department's anti-trust lawsuit, Microsoft's Windows 2000 could be the strongest challenge yet to Sun's server for the delivery of Internet services.
