Optimark Approved As Nasdaq Facility

NEW YORK--The SEC has approved Nasdaq's request to have the Optimark Trading System be come a facility of the Nasdaq Stock Market.

In a joint announcement Nasdaq and Optimark said that Optimark Trading System would begin trading Nasdaq securities on October 11, 1999 with an initial set of 10 symbols selected from the Nasdaq 100. After a two-week trading period, Nasdaq plans to begin trading the full Nasdaq-100 securities. By the end of the year, the plan is for the number of symbols traded will
