XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language and is the next generation of HTML. Where HTML defines web pages viewed by someone operating a web browser, XML is about computers talking to computers. XML allows you to describe formatted data using Document Template Definition called DTD. The FIX committee provides this DTD for FIX and calls it FIXML. Using this technology lets you re-cast FIX into XML formatted data. The FIX standards committee has a lot more control over the data format of FIX. It
