The New York Mercantile Exchange and EJV Partners L.P., the electronic joint venture of six primary dealers in U.S. government securities, have been talking, sparking speculation that the two are considering a system that would eventually allow traders to buy and sell fixed-income instruments and oil futures from a single computer screen.
