that Instinet's relatively outdated core trading system is continuing to experience problems. Insider hears that the large, Reuters-owned ECN placed a moratorium on adding any new FIX circuits to its system about a month ago. Apparently, the trading engine, which has come under fire in the past for slow execution speeds and other latency issues, has been unable to keep up with the rapid pace at which orders come in via the FIX protocol. Instinet has been working to update
