Congress Moves Ahead On Market Reform Bill

THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES

After stagnating in committees last year, the market reform bill giving expanded authority over securities trading to the Securities and Exchange Commission is now making its way forward in both houses of Congress.

Representative Edward Markey's subcommittee on telecommunications and finance has submitted a draft of the bill to the House committee on energy and commerce. And the Senate finance committee expects its version of the bill to reach the Senate floor in about a week.
