Asia Awards 2022: Best ESG data provider—Moody’s
OVERVIEW
There is little doubt that competition across the data and analytics industries have intensified in recent years, with providers stepping up their various offerings in order to satisfy clients’ demands, especially when it comes to ESG-focused investments and ESG considerations in general. And with that increased competition has come a significant uptick in demand for greater ESG transparency and insight. Moody’s is perfectly positioned to satisfy this demand and is now one of the industry’s most recognized and trusted names in the ESG realm, which in turn has required an unparalleled alignment of ESG performance, credit impact, and risk valuation.
“At Moody’s, we are focused on bringing clarity and integrity to ESG performance measurement. We appreciate that the ESG domain is on a journey—one that challenges us all. And we want to help create the discipline and transparency that’s so needed to support the shift to a more resilient and sustainable future.”
Andrea Blackman, managing director – global head of Moody’s ESG Solutions
THE SOLUTION
Going much further than solely addressing the difficulties faced in identifying ESG risks and opportunities, Moody’s has consolidated a range of ESG solutions into a single suite, which can also be used to meet other client goals like strengthening sustainability plans or aiding adaption to regulatory disclosure requirements. Moody’s supplemented this with the addition of an API, raw data feeds, client platforms, the Moody’s Datahub, and Excel add-ins to its delivery options. Underpinning Moody’s approach is a double materiality methodology which considers the impact of ESG factors on not just financial performance, but a diverse range of stakeholder communities, and the environment itself.
WHAT’S TO COME
To ensure that ESG data is accessible, transparent, and easy to understand and action, Moody’s has launched Moody’s ESG360 − a new platform that delivers decision-relevant ESG data and insights to portfolio managers. A key focus for the Moody’s team over the coming months will be continuing to make the greatest possible range of ESG insights available through this new tool.
