“Owlin has won the category best data analytics provider as we have continuously proven to challenge the status quo in the financial industry. We have been able to bring our loyal customer base, consisting of tier-1 financial institutions and service providers such as KPMG, Fitch Solutions, and various top asset management firms, to the next level in an agile but professional and result-driven way.”
Sjoerd Leemhuis, CEO and co-founder, Owlin

WHY THEY WON

This is a category that has traditionally been dominated by large data providers like S&P Global, Broadridge Financial Solutions, and FactSet. But through the use of natural language processing and various other forms of artificial intelligence, Owlin was able to grab the attention of our voters.

WHAT’S NEW

Owlin has recently deployed a renewed version of its platform, expanding coverage of industries, landscapes and geographies, adding languages (Russian and Chinese), and integrating several third-party data sources.

The vendor has opened a US-based entity and hired its first boots on the ground. It also partnered with third parties for licensed content, such as the Financial Times.

WHAT’S TO COME

Owlin is working toward the application of knowledge graph technology in combination with the integration of licensed data providers, expanding not only the available data points, but also surfacing relevant information, relationships and emerging trends and themes.

Using the latest machine-learning models, Owlin will be able to monitor hundreds of thousands of companies simultaneously, and extract, classify and score entities and trends from large swaths of unstructured text.
