Blockchain Execs Relaxed on Possible Threat from Quantum Computing

Blockchain proponents say the technology will evolve and may beat back the decryption threat posed by quantum computing.

Distributed-ledger proponents, speaking at the annual Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association operations conference in Phoenix, Arizona on May 8, noted both technologies are still evolving, and that fears of quantum computing being able to break blockchain’s security may be premature.

Chris Church, chief business development officer at Digital Asset Holdings, said that quantum computing is still far away enough that there is enough time to improve the encryption on blockchain.
