Virtu Financial Europe, Euronext Fined For Market Manipulation
French authorities ruled that certain trading practices were likely to have given false or misleading indications as to the supply and demand for certain financial instruments.
The Autorité des Marchés Financiers' (AMF) Enforcement Committee has handed down a penalty of €5 million to New York-based high-frequency traders Virtu Financial Europe for market manipulation and ignoring Euronext market rules.
The committee has also penalized the Euronext Paris exchange the same amount for failing to meet its obligation to operate with neutrality and impartiality, in accordance with market integrity.
