ICE Starts Clearing for Markit iTraxx Financials Index

atlanta
Atlanta-based ICE Group has started clearing on behalf of Markit iTraxx Senior Financials CDS index instruments.

The Markit iTraxx Senior Financials Index references senior debt issued by the 25 financial entities represented in the MarkitiTraxx Europe Index. ICE has begun clearing on behalf of Markit iTraxx from its US-based ICE Clear Credit facility, while its London-based clearinghouse is pending regulatory approval.

“Since launching the first clearing house for CDS in 2009, we have been working with market participants and regulators to continually invest in the CDS space, eliminate systemic risk and develop new clearing services,” says ICE Clear Credit president Stan Ivanov.
