Since the beginning of last year, BT has made nearly 2,500 new connections to services and applications offered by cloud community members, according to the telecoms giant, and more than 150 new applications have been made available to its cloud community.

"We're not in a market that's stationary ─ it's evolving due to cost, regulatory and business pressures, and we've evolved our capability consistent with that, whether it means extending to São Paulo or Shenzhen or introducing independent functionality," explains Michael Cooper, CTO at BT Radianz.

Cooper says the Radianz Cloud was developed with "a strong level of security inherently built and designed into the cloud," and that for market data feeds, users can take in those feeds "in the same way you would if they were coming directly from an exchange."

Recently, BT introduced the BT Radianz Venue Interconnect in order to grow its global footprint and offer improved latency access to trading venues. Additionally, it launched its Virtual Private Wire solution over the BT Radianz Cloud, which unifies trader voice communications with their data and applications, and in the process ensures that sell-side institutions can reach their clients and counterparties over a single solution for voice, electronic, and hybrid trading, according to BT.

"We have something in the order of 35 percent of the world's markets for turrets, providing the ability to push a button and have a direct call-with no call center in between-that today is delivered on a circuit, a private wire, that literally goes from your turret to theirs," Cooper says. "What this capability does is move that into an IP-based or ‘soft' context, which now makes it more flexible and location independent, but still provides all the functional characteristics that you had before."

Recently, BT introduced the BT Radianz Venue Interconnect in order to grow its global footprint and offer improved latency access to trading venues.

On the geographic front, BT has expanded its partnerships of late, signing agreements with exchanges in Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, Dubai, Egypt and Qatar.

BT REACTION

"BT is delighted to have been named best cloud provider to the sell side. We're especially proud to have been recognized in Sell-Side Technology's inaugural awards, and to add this accolade to our Buy-Side Technology award win for best cloud provider to the buy side. The BT Radianz Cloud, which supports the largest secure networked financial community in the world, allows us to deliver a private managed platform to meet the overall communications needs of buy-side and sell-side firms. Using a single access point, sell-side firms can connect to buy-side members of the global BT Radianz Cloud community, as well as more than 400 service and application providers, including exchanges and alternative trading venues, clearing houses, and settlement infrastructures. The BT Radianz Cloud helps all members to reduce their cost of communication with the rest of the market and unlock more of their capital for driving their business."
