jill-sommers
Sommers started her career as a senatorial intern.

Sommers, a Republican, was sworn in on August 8, 2007, before being nominated for a five-year term by President Barack Obama on July 20 2009. Prior to her career at the CFTC, she worked as the head of government affairs and policy director for the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). She also served in the government office of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange before that.

No replacement has been named, and no announcement on whether Sommers would be moving back to the private sector was made.
