The debate over a consolidated tape of pan-European equities data was prominent in discussions at two industry events in London last week, with concerns that commercial differences between the buy- and sell-sides, venues and market data providers could hamper efforts to create a market-led post-trade tape topping both agendas.

While market participants generally agree that a consolidated tape is needed to address quality and standards issues, substantial disagreements remain around specifics
