The project first began when the Atrium established its presence in the Americas in 2008, say Emmanuel Carjat, CEO and CTO of Atrium. "We have already connected to Currenex, Hotspot FX and LavaFX, and we are looking to add larger venues later this year."

Although the bandwidth demand for FX message volume is much lower compared to the U.S. equities markets, Atrium officials still expect the new network to offer 1 Gbps bandwidth to address latency issues faced by FX traders, says Carjat.
