Cloud computing is different. Almost everyone in the industry agrees that it provides value and many are looking to incorporate it into their infrastructure and budget plans. Despite its ability to free up space in the datacenter, reduce capital costs and speed time-to-market, however, cloud computing currently still has that one dreaded characteristic-vendor lock-in. Firms can't easily switch their applications between the compute clouds run by Amazon, Google or any other third-party provider
