Power Outage Shuts Down CBOT, Worldcom Glitch Nixes Project A

CHICAGO--At press time, it was announced that the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) was suspending trading on Project A, its electronic platform for futures trading, tentatively until 5 pm on Sunday, August 15--due to a frame relay service interruption problem with network provider MCI Worldcom. A spokesperson for MCI says that the outage and frame relay problem are unrelated. "We will bring customers back online as quickly as we can," the spokesperson says.
