Electronic Transaction Systems Boom in 2000; Fixed Income Flavor of the Year

YEAR 2000 TRANSACTION SYSTEMS REVIEW

LONDON--This year was the year in which banks, vendors and consortiums firmly and fully jumped on the electronic commerce bandwagon, with a particular focus on fixed income and foreign exchange.

The Bond Market Association reckoned there were only 11 systems for electronic fixed income trading in 1997 and that there are now 68 worldwide. Other sources have put the number of fixed income systems at over 80.
