Mugger had fun at the Java Business Expo at the Javits Convention Center last week, a show notable for who wasn't there. Microsoft backed out of the event, and, trials aside, its absence was felt. Mugger heard "Where's the Microsoft booth?" too many times for it to be funny. Perhaps it was poetic justice, but Sun's James Gosling had to cancel his appearance because of the trial. The best news is that attention was paid to those in financial technology with some notable presentations on risk
