NASD Looks To Change Rules To Boost Portal

THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES

The National Association of Securities Dealers has embarked on an extensive review of Portal, its recently implemented trading system for private placements. Following the review, the NASD is expected to request rule changes from the Securities and Exchange Commission that could help make Portal competitive with rival systems under development by the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange and others.

Private placements are securities, foreign or domestic, that aren't registered
