Compaq Computer recently lifted the veil off of its new Unix-based Alphaserver ES40, which users can have with as many as four 500MHz Alpha CPUs. With pricing starting at $30,000, the new Alphaserver, expected to be available by May, will offer Tru64 Unix. Compaq will also offer clustered systems through its Trucluster Server technology. The clustering benefits are derived from the OpenVMS operating system of the Digital division.
