NYMEX Reconsiders Its Partnership With CME

Disturbed by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's handling of its bid to become a Globex partner, the New York Mercantile Exchange is reevaluating its plans for moving into the 24-hour trading arena.

"Obviously we were surprised," says NYMEX spokesman Robert Baxter, when the CME announced June 8 that it would break off Globex partnership negotiations with both the NYMEX and the Sydney Futures Exchange. The announcement came on the heels of the CME's move to discuss merging Globex with the Chicago
