EBS Forex Trading System Scores A Busy Opening Day

Volume and liquidity were surprisingly good on the first day of trading for the Electronic Broking Service (EBS) last week, according to dealers in London and New York. The bank- owned automated foreign-exchange matching service went live Sept. 15 in 54 dealing rooms in New York, London, Zurich and Amsterdam, racking up 969 transactions on that day, according to EBS consortium chairman Peter Bartko.

This volume figure means that EBS, the third order-matching service to begin operation in the spot
