Having blathered in this column a few weeks ago about how e-commerce was going to dominate the SIA Show, I have to say that real examples of this new and exciting technology got lost in the enormity of this year's event. What wasn't lost, however, was XML.

This new and exciting technology emerged as the buzzword du show. And there was a market data example, featuring almost real-time data. The prototype, on display at the Microsoft booth, featured an Internet Explorer 5 browser polling an XML
