First Union Capital Markets Group Betas Applix 'Anyware' On Internet, Intranet

The capital markets group at First Union National Bank (FUNB) has begun beta-testing Applix's Applix Anyware, a set of Internet products which employs Sun Microsystems' Java programming language in combination with client/server technology to deliver interactive real-time spreadsheets to the desktop. FUNB's capital markets group consists of some 1,500 users, including trading and investment banking staff.
