Butler Group: Make Way For the Winnix Server OS

LONDON--The IT industry must collaborate in the coming years to produce a new, next-generation, Linux-based server operating system, tentatively dubbed Winnix, that will have to support grid computing, Web services and wireless devices, according to the Hull, UK-based research firm Butler Group.

Winnix’s support for these applications of the future, including wireless, voice and streaming multimedia capabilities, will ultimately be very compelling for financial services firms, say Butler’s
