J.P. Morgan & Co. intends to cast a wide net for off-the-shelf systems and technologies that it will then evaluate for incorporation into its trading room technology platform. Among the first products being examined is a new Apple Computer Inc. Macintosh-based commodity options and futures portfolio risk management system that may eventually be put to use on a limited number of Morgan's commodity trading and sales desks in New York.
