I have spoken at Java One for the past three years, but I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that I can’t just talk about Java in the trading room, Java on the road or whatever.

Why not? Because Sun Microsystems Inc. zealously guards the use of Java and employs a lawyer 24 hours, seven days a week to review all Java One presentations and insist that we talk about Java™ Technology at all times.

Like most people, until recently I thought this was because Sun had trademarked Java. But the reason
