New York executive recruiting firm The KPA Group has released a financial services industry salary survey that shows chief information officers earn an average of $130,000 each, while data processing managers take in $90,000, and computer supervisors take in $70,000.

The outlook for vendors supplying the hardware for local and wide area networks, companies such as Cisco Systems, 3Com, Cascade Communications, Cabletron Systems and Newbridge Networks, appears very strong, according to William Rabin, JP Morgan's technology analyst for the data networking and technology services sectors. Furthermore, Rabin foresees these companies consolidating, fueled by firms' desires to purchase their networking equipment from a single supplier.

Display IT

is preparing to offer its stock on Nasdaq sometime around late April, according to a source close to the firm. It is currently listed on Ofex, a London-based market.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange

has hired Sungard Recovery Services to mirror the data, applications and operating systems of its PHLX Clearing and Depository subsidiary at Sungard's backup site in Philadelphia, which is equipped with EMC Symmetrix Integrated Cached Disk Array storage systems.

Vida Briley

, currently head of North American trading technology at ABN Amro bank, has just been appointed CIO of the firm's Singapore office and will assume the position in May. Briley says she doesn't know what she will be concentrating on because she does not yet "know much about that systems or applications they have. So, until I get there and do an analysis, I can't really say." But whatever the situation is, it's bound to be a challenge, because Singapore never before had a CIO. Meanwhile, back in New York, Briley says, no one person will replace her. "To replace me, they have moved some things around. However, Richard Shriver, first vice president, will still remain responsible for all dealing room support for North America," she says, declining to elaborate further. Sam Halim, head of all of the firm's technology for North America and Briley's boss, did not return phone calls.

Citicorp

has appointed Stanley Welland as director of global technology infrastructure. He reports to Colin Crook, senior technology officer. Welland was previously with General Electric, where he was responsible for the company's entire network, including those supporting GE Capital, Information Services and NBC.

Applix'

executive vice president of sales and service Richard Davis has resigned to accept the position of president and chief executive officer of an early stage technology company. He will not be replaced. Rather, the sales department reporting to Davis will now report to president and CEO Jit Saxena, and the service team will now report to executive vice president of product and market development Jay Waldron.
