Front Office Slow to Accept VoIP

LONDON--In spite of its promise of a single network for voice and data, the acceptance of Voice over IP (VoIP) in the front office continues to lag behind expectations, according to VoIP specialists, who say too many banks are not taking full advantage of VoIP--if they're using it all.

Vendors such as IPC Information Systems and Syntegra report ongoing demand for VoIP products in this realm. More than 60 percent of IPC's shipments during the third quarter of its 2002 fiscal year were for VoIP
