Swift Looks Toward Interoperability

SAN FRANCISCO--In an effort to encourage interoperability among standards, Swift is introducing a central repository for business models. It’s also revamping its own standards in light of XML and business changes in the industry.

Swift’s proprietary syntax is now 27 years old, says Martine de Weirdt, senior manager of standards at Swift. "We had to take business drivers into account and develop tools to address them and make them more formal," she says. Swift also wanted to ensure that changes
