TSE To Open Automated Order Bookto Public; NYSE Says It Will Offer A "Peek" At Its Book

In a bid to attract greater order flow and keep Canadian stocks trading on home turf, the Toronto Stock Exchange plans before yearend to introduce a central automated order book for all floor-traded equities and to make the information available to the public. Responding to the TSE's plan, a New York Stock Exchange official has told TST that the Big Board intends to provide a "peek" at its book on a pilot basis next year.
