Reuters Outsources to IBM

FRONT PAGE: OFFSHORING AND OUTSOURCING

LONDON—Reuters has entered into an outsourcing relationship with IBM in a deal that gives Big Blue control over the development and support of internal Reuters applications.

Reuters' new chief information officer (CIO), David Lister, who assumed his position at the start of this month, will oversee the project (DWT, Nov. 15).

The deal, which was completed two months ago, means approximately 70 former Reuters staff have moved over to Big Blue under a "transfer of undertakings." Lister says that
