Lehman CIO Says Productivity, Cost Controls Are Top Goals This Year

NEW YORK--In the first half of 2002, the greatest challenge for banks will be "wringing productivity out of businesses and managing costs as tightly as you can," says Jon Beyman, chief information officer of Lehman Brothers.
"Those underlying issues have existed for years, but in a difficult climate productivity has to be high up there. At the end of the day, we have shareholders and they expect a return," says Beyman.
